Pyra serves as the current guardian of Magnopus. In her role, she holds the unique ability to crush the stone at the center of Magnopus into the Elixir of Life, a vital process for its restoration. Alongside Penelope, the former guardian of Magnopus and her adoptive mother, Pyra helped in creating the Healing Centers scattered throughout Leeore. She is a Demi, mixed with Magnopus.
Appearance & Personality
Pyra has striking bright red hair with yellow undertones near the ends, complemented by freckles and dark purple accents. The natural color of her hair remains a mystery, as it is believed to have changed after she became a demi-human. When she experiences anger or irritation, her hair can ignite into flames, though these flames are harmless and do not burn. Additionally, she possesses a minor ability to heal light wounds more quickly than others.
She's known for her intelligence and creativity in problem-solving. Pyra grapples with a sense of hopelessness and pessimism following the loss of her adoptive mother and former guardian, Penelope. In conversation she can be a little cold and disinterested. Once passionate about reading and research, she has an extensive knowledge of medicinal production for both humans and Kaimon.
Despite her grief, she still finds solace in Magnopus, although she struggles to feel motivated to pursue her goals without Penelope's guidance.
Backstory
Pyra’s origins remain shrouded in mystery, with little known about her birth parents. It is believed that they were shipwrecked in Leeore's ocean, leaving her stranded on Crimson Island at a young age. As a toddler, she was discovered by the Kaimon of Crimson Island, who guided her to the Volcanic Caves within the island's volcano, directing her toward Magnopus. One of the fragments of Magnopus recognized her potential as the next Guardian and took it upon itself to nurture her until she could be raised properly.
In her early years, Pyra caught the attention of Penelope, the former Guardian, who found her playing near the volcano. Astonished by the child’s hair that could ignite into flames and her inherent connection to Magnopus, Penelope took her in, teaching her how to speak, clothing her, and providing care. Together with Professor Flamel, they adopted Pyra as their daughter. Penelope had known she found her successor in Pyra.
Pyra idolized Penelope, embracing her dream of making Magnopus's healing abilities more accessible to the people of Leeore. Inspired by this vision, she collaborated with her mother to establish Healing Centers throughout Leeore's major cities, each linked to the Elixir of Life from the volcano on Crimson Island. These centers harnessed Magnopus’s energy, enabling Kaimon to heal.
Despite her pride in this accomplishment, Pyra faced a heartbreaking challenge when Penelope fell ill. Desperate to find a cure that could extend her adoptive mother’s life, Pyra dedicated herself to research, hoping to create a miraculous remedy. Professor Flamel saw potential in studying Pyra’s demi abilities, believing they might hold the key to a cure, but Penelope was staunchly against it, considering Pyra their daughter first and foremost.
Tragically, Penelope passed away peacefully in her sleep before Pyra could realize her goal. The loss of her mother dimmed the flame of ambition within her, leaving her directionless in her pursuit of a cure for humanity in Leeore. While Flamel continues to travel between Crimson Island and Leeore, he visits less frequently. He remains convinced that understanding Pyra's unique demi abilities may ultimately lead to a "cure-all," yet the weight of her mother’s absence lingers heavily on Pyra.
Relationships
- Penelope: Her adoptive mother, Penelope was kind to Pyra and essentially her best friend. She wished to be like her in all ways and was inspired to help others because of her.
- Professor Flamel: Her adoptive father, Flamel is a kind man who's dedicated towards alchemy. He taught Pyra the foundations of creating medicine, though he can often overlook how others feel in sight of his future ideas.
- Magnopus: Magnopus is the Primal that Pyra is empathically linked with. As the Guardian of Magnopus, whenever Magnopus runs out of energy she is able to crush the stone into the pool of lava in Crimson Island's Volcano called the elixer of life, reviving this phoenix. Magnopus was Pyra's first friend and in a way, knew Magnopus before she could even speak. Even in her grief, Magnopus will split off small birds of fire to go play with Pyra and remind her to relax.
